My Accutane Journey: Week 3 | Accutane the miracle worker

Week three on Accutane has been the stuff that dreams are made of. Yes, my skin may be starting to peel like heck and my lips are still as dry as ever, but guess what? I wore my makeup for over twelve hours without having to retouch it or re-powder it once!

I’ve decided to put week three into one little post rather than into separate days as I really don’t have much to report day by day, but I wanted to share my experience with you none-the-less.

Week three has been the easiest week on Accutane by far. I’ve slipped into a good routine of moisturising twice daily, found the perfect lip product that not only helped my lips heal overnight but also took away that horrible wrinkly feeling (Blistex Relief Cream), and most of all, I’ve started to see a real difference in my skin. My acne is still present in abundance and it still feels sore too, but I have to remind myself that this is only week three and I have many more weeks to go yet. My skin really is starting to peel now which normally would upset me, but I’m just so pleased that the drug is taking effect that I can put that to one side and deal with it by upping my moisturising game and making sure I keep drinking lots of water.

The biggest thing I’ve noticed this month is that my pores appear to be decreasing in size and my skin is not even half as oily as it used to be which is absolutely wonderful. On Saturday, I had a full day of lovely clients in and out for makeovers, hair pin ups and gorgeous bridal trials. It was a full on day and I didn’t have time to retouch my makeup once, so after my appointments I was dreading what my face would be looking like. I was absolutely gobsmacked when I looked into the mirror and saw that my makeup looked exactly the same as it had done that morning. Absolutely no oil or shine anywhere on my face. I was so happy I could have cried because I could physically see that Accutane was getting into my system and beginning to work.

I can’t tell you how much of a confidence boost this has given me alone, I only hope and pray that it will have the same miraculous effect on my skin going forward.
