Getting personal on BBC Radio Sheffield | My experience with bullying, heartbreak and love

Just recently I was invited back to BBC Radio Sheffield to have a chat with Rony Robinson on his afternoon show. If you’re familiar with Rony, you’ll know that he interviews a guest on his show and delves into their life story to reveal a more personal side. I’d previously been at the radio station over Halloween talking about my gory SFX makeovers and making the lovely Kat Harbourne over, so I jumped at the chance when Kat asked me if I’d like to go back.

Before the show, I was sent a questionnaire full of questions about my life experiences, my biggest achievements and the people that have helped to shape me into the person that I am today.

My answers were incredibly personal, but I felt it was the right time to talk about a few issues that I’d had in my life over the years gone by. It’s not often that I delve into my personal life online. After all, I am the head of a business and I like to keep things on a more professional level. But what changed my thinking is that I might be able to reach out and help somebody else cope with what they’re going through or give them a little hope too. If I touched just one person in the process, then it was a job well done.

I won’t go into detail about the interview in case you’d like to listen to it for yourself. But what I will say is that we discussed bullying, the heartbreak that I’ve never talked about before, love and hope. I hope that you’ll enjoy it as much as I enjoyed doing the interview with the lovely Rony.

Thank you to BBC Radio Sheffield for inviting me onto Rony’s show, it was a brilliant experience!
