Illamasqua Beyond Veil Skin Glowing Gel review

Beyond Veil is a beautiful mixture of two of Illamasqua’s iconic products: the gorgeously quirky Hydra Veil and the blindingly beautiful illuminating Beyond Powder.

As you might well know, I used to work at Illamasqua back in my early days of makeup. Shortly after I left the company, Hydra Veil was launched. It’s such an interesting product to me even to this day. The priming gel comes encased in a little black tub (that I like to think of as a cauldron) with a small spoon inside to scoop up the product. It’s certainly unusual, but what makes the primer really stand out is the formula. A futuristic clear gel that you can scoop, stir and mush in the pot that self-levels back into a flat, clear formula. Made with Microalgae, Vitamin C and B3, Hydra Veil makes a gorgeous primer for normal to dry skin types.

To combine Hydra Veil with the gorgeous metallic sheen of the Beyond Powders is just a genius move. It’s absolutely beautiful and works so well for both the winter and the summer months to help the skin to look radiant and lit from within. It does have a few teeny tiny glitter particles, but I’m certainly not mad about them. I’m the type of girl that’s attracted to anything shiny or glittery so of course, this product does it for me to no ‘a-veil‘ (see what I did there?)

I love to wear Beyond Veil when I’m having one of those ‘no makeup’ days where in fact I do wear a little bit of makeup (Mind. Blown. I know). It makes the perfect skin booster and I love the calming scent too. It reminds me of beauty counters, luxurious skin products and summertime. What more could I ask for?

Beyond Veil is formulated with multi-active ingredients, Gardenia Florida Fruit extract (a powerful natural antioxidant) and Sodium Hyaluronate (the sodium salt of Hyaluronic Acid which is a humectant that draws water to the skin). It also has haematococcus pluvais extract (another powerful antioxidant) and Vitamin C to help improve skin elasticity and brightness.

All in all, it’s a gorgeous primer for underneath your favourite foundation and perfect on its own for those days where you just want a little glow. It’s fun to use and will look pretty interesting in your makeup bag too!
