Jurlique Calendula Redness Rescue Serum review

Just recently, my skincare routine has had a little overhaul. Thanks to the Lookfantastic Blooms Beauty Box, I was introduced to a few natural skincare products and I was treated to a second delivery of Jurlique Calendula Redness Rescue Serum. I started using the serum on the very day that I got it, and instantly knew this little wonder serum was going to be amazing for my skin. With that in mind, I wanted to bring you a Jurlique Calendula Redness Rescue Serum review!

Serums have been big news of late due to their potent ingredients and magical (okay, not really) properties of accelerating our skincare routines and kicking the active ingredients up a gear. Spring is the perfect time to incorporate a serum into your skincare routine – with summer just around the corner, it’s always amazing to feel confident enough to venture out with a bare face and enjoy those sunshiney days. First of all, I’ll start by telling you a little about the serum. It’s described as a unique and effective gel that is designed to restore the skin’s epidermal defences. Delivering long-lasting hydration, anti-irritant benefits and a soothing effect to the skin, the serum helps to nourish and replenish skin in one.

The serum also contains a Comfort Complex with extracts of Calendula, Echinacea, Chamomile, Spilanthes and Marshmallow.

To use the serum, I firstly cleansed my face with my current favourite makeup remover and cleanser, and patted it dry. Then I added two pumps of the serum to my fingertips before gently pressing it into my skin. Handy tip: pressing serums into the skin rather than rubbing them in helps to release the active ingredients and is also super gentle! The serum is a little yellow in colour and actually smells a like a black tea to me. I associate smells like this with products that are going to do my skin good, so I quite enjoy the scent that it gives out as you apply it to the skin. The serum comes in a cute little pump bottle so you can be sure you won’t waste any product, and the neutral packaging looks lovely and fresh.

It’s worth mentioning that the Comfort Complex botanicals in the serum help to provide a long-lasting barrier against environmental aggressors and restore the skin’s epidermal defences so it’s both protective and nourishing.

I’ve used the serum day and night for a grand total of five days and within that time, I can hand on heart say that my skin hasn’t felt and looked so comforted in a long time. I’ve introduced two new products into my skincare routine within this time – a cleanser (the Bloom and Blossom Bath and Shower Gel – yes, really! More on this in a new post coming soon) and this serum and I really put the change down to these gorgeously natural products.

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts over the last few months, I suffer with eczema and breakouts on my face frequently, so when I woke up the morning after the first evening I used it to find my skin feeling soft and looking more even in tone, I was truly thrilled. It’s also worth mentioning that in the time I’ve used the serum, my skin has been put through the ringer with lots of makeup applications and removals seen as I’ve been working on a few new projects. The serum has managed to keep my skin calm, soothed and smooth throughout.

Skincare really is worth investing in, so if you want to really up your skincare game and add a product that will benefit your skin greatly, this is an amazing addition.
