Mudmasky Sleep Repair Renewal Nourishing Mask review

MUDMASKY is a brand that has never failed me in the past. That’s why I was so excited to see a tube with the large teal ‘MUDMASKY’ logo shining up at me inside my March ‘Spring Clean’ Glossybox.

This time it was MUDMASKY’s Sleep Repair Renewal Nourishing Mask. Now I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but last year I was taking a course of Accutane. Yes, you may now take a shot, I’ve said the buzzword. Again! And since taking that miraculous little pill that banished my acne (hopefully forever), my skin has been a little drier. This is absolutely not a problem to me. After all, the reason I embarked on my Accutane (or Isotretinoin to call it by its proper name) journey was to get rid of that excess oil that was causing those pesky breakouts. I’m glad my skin is drier than it was.

Anyway, having a drier skin type presents it’s own challenges. One of them being combatting the dryness and finding products that work to balance my skin and keep it feeling happy. Now my skin is not dry in the sense that it looks dry and patchy. It just feels a little tight after washing and can sometimes look a little lacklustre. MUDMASKY’s Sleep Repair mask came at just the right time it would seem!

The mask is said to repair, protect and nourish skin whilst keeping it perfectly balanced at night. You can expect to wake up to skin that looks ‘less tired’ with reduced under-eye circles. You should also have the benefit of ‘extremely smooth and energised’ skin to look forward to. Sold to the lady with red hair! What’s more, the mask is said to adapt to your skin type on different zones across your face. “The Sleep Repair Renewal Nourishing Mask has 5 important tasks (to repair, hydrate, rejuvenate, smooth and protect). Every task is done by a combination of ingredients that have been used for years in different parts of the world. Proven by history.” So there you go.

The mask is to be applied in a thin layer over the face on an evening and left for no less than five hours, but no more than 10 hours. Oh how I would love to be able to sleep for over 10 hours on a night…

I applied the gorgeously grey-blue mask to my skin over the top of my regular Botanicals Moroccan Rose Superfood Facial Oil and my Omorovicza Balancing Moisturiser to really seal in the deal before going to sleep – this is my favourite way to use the mask, I’ve tried it on its own too but this is my favourite way!

The first thing to note is the texture of the mask. It’s almost a gel, almost a balm. A hybrid of the two if you will. It feels extremely comfortable and nourishing on the skin without feeling sticky or greasy. This is not the kind of mask that will fuse your face to your pillow. Thank goodness! Although MUDMASKY do advise that you change your pillow every 2 -3 nights.
It’s lovely and cooling on the skin with a gorgeous comforting and calming effect. Scent-wise, it doesn’t really smell of much which I neither like or dislike.

I didn’t expect to see or feel much difference after waking up the next morning, but I was pleasantly surprised. My skin looked even, nourished and certainly more energised than it usually does on an early wake up call. I got straight on with my regular cleansing, toning and moisturising routine and did notice how lovely and soft my skin felt along the way.

Overall, I’ve really enjoyed using this mask. I also enjoy the fact that it’s cruelty free, paraben free and made from natural ingredients too.

The mask retails at £60 for 60ml and can be found on the Mudmasky website by clicking here. To put it into perspective, my sample size is 20ml and is still going strong from using it a few times a week since early March.

If you’d rather hold out and keep your fingers crossed for another sample of a MUDMASKY product inside the Glossybox, you can subscribe to them here. Save an extra 20% on a one month subscription by entering GLOSSY at the checkout.
