My Top 3 Lip Products of the Moment

Lip products are among some of my favourite beauty goodies to purchase. I could spend hours on the makeup counters happily swatching away each colour and texture and carefully considering my next colour! I particularly love it when I manage to use up six of my MAC products and use the Back to MAC scheme to get a fresh new lipstick!

So with that in mind I thought today would be the perfect opportunity to share my top three favourite lip products with you that I’ve been loving through the month!

Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kit in Pose
I bought the Barry M Lip Kit some time last summer and was instantly obsessed with it. I loved the colour so much and I loved that the pencil was perfect for over-lining my lips without looking too fake. I adore that the lip kit comes with both a pencil and a liquid lipstick (I’m sure you can tell where the inspiration for this product came from, and the name too!) And that either can be worn on their own as well as together with equally beautiful results.

When I was working on set with Eurosport, I managed to lose my beloved lip pencil during the hustle and bustle of the busy days and I was gutted! So gutted that I spent a fair amount of time searching my makeup room with my flashlight on my phone to check every little nook and cranny. It never showed up so I knew I’d have to buy another full lip kit just to get my favourite lip pencil once again, so I did!

I don’t find the formula of this lip kit too drying at all to say it’s matte – in fact, I wore it whilst I was taking my highest dose of Accutane without any problems (if you don’t know about Accutane, it severely dries out your lips and wearing lipsticks can be near on impossible!). It’s a gorgeous nudey pink that dries down slightly darker than it looks once applied. It’s my ‘go-to’ lip colour and it’s what I’ll most likely be wearing to the Professional Beauty Awards next weekend!

Bourjois Effet 3D Lipgloss in 29 Rose Charismatic
Back in College and University, I had two go-to lip glosses, one was the L’Oreal Glam Shine Lip Gloss in 112 Sapphire Strass (it smelled amazing and that applicator was a dream!) and the Bourjois Effet 3D Lipgloss in 23 Framboise Magnific. I was definitely into those rich pink glittery lips!

This time however, I decided to pick up number 29 which is the colour Rose Charismatic. It’s a gorgeous light pink sparkly shade which mades your lips look plumped and glossy without an overly sticky feel. I love wearing it on its own or over the top of liquid or cream lipsticks. It smells exactly the same as it did all those years ago which is a gorgeous sherbety scent and it takes me right back to my younger days each time I wear it. It’s definitely a favourite shade and formula wise, but I think it’d benefit from a longer, softer brush to apply it with as this one is shorter and stubbier than I remember.

Trifle Cosmetics Sugar Pear Sublime Lip Scrub
I was introduced to this gorgeous lip scrub in a recent beauty box and I haven’t been able to stop using it since. I’ve tried Trifle Cosmetics products in the past and loved the cutesy packaging, so I was pleased to be sent another goodie from the brand.

The scrub is full of crunchy sugar crumbs, cacao butter, sweet almond oil and pecan seed oil. It also smells like caramel which is just divine! To the eagle eyed among you, you’ll know that I have a severe nut allergy, so why is it that I can use this lip scrub without issue yet CND Solar Oil that contains almond oil sent me into an allergy meltdown? It’s something that I asked myself and wanted an answer to desperately so I was pleased to find that the Anaphylaxis Campaign had actually stated that the risk of allergenic food ingredients used in cosmetics and toiletries may be small or non-existent because the ingredients used are so highly refined to the point that most of the proteins present have been removed. This is the same reason I can eat the Five Guys fries that are cooked in Hydrogenated Peanut Oil – the process removes the allergy causing protein.

It’s something I play it extremely safe with and patch test each time, but I’m so happy to say that it doesn’t pose a threat to me in this particular product. I can’t tell you how gorgeous this lip scrub is and just how much I use it to get my lips feeling soft, nourished and pout ready. I think many people will be pleased to learn that it’s also Vegan and doesn’t contain mineral oil, parabens, phthalates or gluten. It’s also hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic. It’s a gorgeous addition to your lip care routine and I highly recommend you check it out if you’re a lip scrub fan!
