My skincare routine sometimes changes more than I have hot dinners, but in the last few weeks, I’ve found a new system that’s working miracles for my skin and that I’m happily settled with so I wanted to share my updated skincare routine with you and tell you what’s been working great for my acne prone skin.
Amongst a few products I’ve mentioned in other posts dotted around my blog, I’ve also been using a new product that was sent to me for review called WrinkleBlock from Transformulas – a wrinkle fighting formula packed with ingredients like vitamin E and Syn-ake, a synthetic snake venom that mimics the the venom of the Temple Viper. As with all skincare or treatments, I like to test new products for around six to eight weeks so that I can really see the effect on my skin. I’m going to go in depth about this product in a new post at a later date so stay tuned for that coming up soon.
So, let me tell you about my current skincare routine!
Step one – cleansing
I still love to remove my eye makeup with my Garnier Micellar Water. It’s so gentle on my skin, doesn’t require me to rub at my eyes to remove my makeup and most of all, doesn’t sting my eyes at all!
After removing my eye makeup, I cleanse my skin with the La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser which helps to remove the rest of my makeup. I cleanse my face twice to make sure I get both a superficial cleanse to remove the surface dirt, and a deep cleanse to remove any excess dirt and makeup left behind. I’ve been really loving the Toleriane range in the La Roche-Posay collection just lately, the products are classed as high tolerance products to help reduce the risk of irritants to the skin and is especially formulated for sensitive, intolerant skin types.
Step two – moisturising
I always start my moisturising routine by using an eye cream. For the daytime, I use the Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream which has a gorgeous pearly glow and makes skin look radiant. For evenings, I use Caudalie’s Premier Cru Eye Cream as I feel it’s a little heavier and more nourishing for replenishing my skin overnight.
Next, I use my Transformulas WrinkleBlock Line Restriction Creme on my neck gently blending it upwards towards my jaw line. I also take a little across my forehead and around my mouth area.
Then I apply my La Roche-Posay Toleriane Soothing Protective Skincare cream to my face and neck gently massaging it in.
Step three – sun protection
As my last step for daytime skincare, I apply a layer of La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50+ all over my face, neck, ears, chest and the back of my neck too. Usually I’d apply sunscreen under my moisturiser, but I picked up the tinted fluid this time and find I enjoy wearing it on top of my skincare rather than underneath.
Step four – nutrition and homeopathy
Along with topical skincare treatments, I also make sure to drink plenty of water, eat fresh fruit and vegetables and steer clear of too much sugar and processed foods. I’m also currently taking my homeopathic tablets to help with my skincare which are the Nelsons Thuja tablets that you can get hold of from Holland and Barrett (read my post all about this wonder remedy here).
Along with a careful skincare routine, I also make sure to deep clean my makeup brushes once a week and ensure that my pillowcases are washed regularly to make sure my skin is resting on lovely, fresh sheets throughout the night.
