October Beauty Favourites

October Beauty Favourites Rachael Divers Makeup Artistry

This month I have been absolutely loving just how pretty my hometown is looking scattered in gorgeous orange leaves and that low autumnal sunshine that is so lovely to look at but damn awful to drive through. October has been one heck of a crazy month that saw my makeover work splash into the headlines both in the UK and globally – it’s been an overwhelming month and an amazing month for revisiting some old favourites and discovering a few new must haves too.

My October beauty favourites for this month are another mixed bag from a little skincare to of course, makeup. I hope you enjoy taking a look!

1. 100% Organic Virgin Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is one of my favourite products to use in beauty treatments. I love the scent in body spritzes and love how it’s nourishing yet gentle enough to use on my skin. This is my favourite that I’ve used so far and I like to add it to honey face and hair masks for extra nourishment and also to my cooking! If you want to try this yourself, the best to get is a Virgin Coconut oil like this.

2. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula
Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula has been around for ages and I’ve always heard good reviews on how it softens, smooths and helps to blend away scars and marks. My mum picked this fragrance free bottle up on a shopping trip and really didn’t like the strange scent so I decided to try it out for myself. I can’t say I’m too keen on the scent either but I find it such a comforting moisturiser that I’m willing to forgo the strange smell. I like to use this nightly after a bath or shower and it feels so nourishing and softening that I always wake up to smoother skin.

3. Illamasqua eyeshadow in Slink (from the Compliment palette)
My current favourite eye shadow to highlight under my brows. It’s a soft champagne shimmer finish which makes it gorgeous as both as a highlighter and a natural eyeshadow. I also like to use it in the inner corners of my eyes for a fresh, awake look

4. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero
I’ve always loved Urban Decay and their makeup was probably some of the first more expensive (compared to Boots Natural Collection for example) makeup that I ever had. It was my ‘grown up’ makeup and I loved it! I was going through my pencils tub the other day and came across Zero – a deep dark black – and thought I’d try it out for some more dramatic eye looks I’m currently working on. It works beautifully to get a dense black base but does set quickly so you need to work fast to blend it out to use it like this. It’s also great in the waterline and for the first time in months, I’ve been able to wear liner on my waterline without suffering from irritated, watering eyes.

5. Illamasqua eyeshadow in Obsidian
Obsidian is one of the blackest black eyeshadows that I’ve come across and I love it for adding extra depth to a dramatic eye. I like to layer it on top of my Urban Decay Glide On pencil to give a really dense, deep finish. Seen as I’ve been trying out a lot of dramatic eye looks this month, this has become a firm favourite again.

6. Peaches Pigment in Fox
Peaches and Cream is a fabulous makeup and hair salon based in Liverpool and last year, I bought in some pigments from their online shop. Fox is a beautiful deep, rich copper gold which I’ve been absolutely loving lately. If you have blue eyes like me, this colour will really make your eyes pop.

7. Estee Lauder Double Wear Mineral Rich Loose Powder in Intensity 1.0
I remember buying this a while ago and I actually don’t think it’s available anymore, but I could be wrong so don’t quote me on that one. I was looking for a setting powder with a little colour payoff and mineral rich finish to give that subtle glow and had this gorgeous powder recommended to me. I love the little compact it comes in complete with the powder section, the well for dipping your brush or powder puff and a separate section within the lid with a powder puff and mirror for on the go touch ups. I’ve always used this with my Real Techniques Setting Brush to get a really nice concentrated coverage. Just recently, I delved into the makeup trolley and dug it back out again and I’ve worn it every day since. I’m quite sad it’s almost all gone now, it’s a nice alternative to my Studio Fix Powder Plus.

8. MAC Viva Glam 3
I got this lipstick a while ago when I did the ‘Back to MAC’ swap – six empty MAC containers for a fresh new lipstick. It’s a gorgeous deep brown plum with a matte finish that I think looks ultra glamorous for the colder autumn/winter months. I love to wear it with a deep golden eye to really make the colours pop.
