It’s time for prom season! I’m so excited to open the studio doors and welcome in some beautiful, new prom clients. I always love prom season. It’s such an exciting time for my wonderful clients and for some, it’s the first time they’ve ever had professional makeup applied.
Today marked the arrival of one of my gorgeous prom princesses, Laura! Laura knew exactly what she wanted for her makeup look and showed me a photograph of a look I’d applied to my previous client and Miss Supermodel England winner, Georgia! It was the perfect look for Laura and I knew she was going to look absolutely stunning.

After my weekend makeover appointments with my lovely clients, I suddenly had the urge to grab a load of cream paints and create something on my own face. The Halloween bug has been slowly biting me over the last few weeks and I finally gave in to the temptation.
A sneak peek behind the scenes | Pop Art Zombie Halloween Makeup Look | Rachael Divers
As a rule, I don’t offer face or body painting as a service within my own business, but I really wanted to sit down and have a play and see what I could come up with. I had no idea what I was going to do but started drawing and painting and ended up with a colourful Pop Art style cartoonish zombie!

I really enjoyed creating this look with my creme paints from the likes of Mehron, Ben Nye and of course, Kryolan! It was really fun to sit down and experiment with something completely different and I’m really pleased with the outcome!

One of the biggest myths that you might have been told is that your skin needs a break from makeup to breathe. It’s a total misconception and today, I’ll tell you why…
The top layer of our skin, the Epidermis, is a dead layer of skin. The lower levels of the skin which are living (the Dermis and the Subcutaneous Layer) get their oxygen supply and nutrients from our blood supply or from what we eat and drink. This is why people often talk about drinking lots of water and eating clean to see the benefits on the surface of their skin.
Although the skin doesn’t actually breathe, there are many benefits to going makeup free. Some makeup products can really aggravate the skin and cause breakouts for people that have more sensitive skin types or who are prone to breakouts. Usually, the irritation is caused by the allergens in makeup which can be anything from certain ingredients that people are more sensitive to, to the fragrances, oils and preservatives within the makeup.
It’s so important to remove all traces of makeup with a good skincare routine to ensure that the makeup isn’t sitting within our pores blocking them up and causing breakouts or blackheads. This is often referred to as occluding the skin, which basically means stopping, closing up or closing obstruction to.
Beauty Myths Busted: Does your skin need time off from makeup to breathe? | Rachael Divers
Just recently the lovely Bodyblendz team contacted me and asked me if I’d like to receive one of their body scrubs to share with my viewers and readers. Of course, I said yes! I love body scrubs and love adding them into my regular Sunday pamper routine. I find them a treat to use and love how they make my skin feel renewed, silky and soft. I particularly love using them during the summer months when I occasionally apply a light layer of fake tan. It helps my tan to go on smoothly, evenly and also helps it to last.
I was really happy to open my package and see that Bodyblendz had sent me their Coffee Shimmer Scrub. This scrub contains a blend of select organic essential oils, extracts and minerals combined together with the finest ground Arabica coffee beans. The purest activated charcoal finishes the combination off nicely.
Bodyblendz Face & Body Coffee Shimmer Scrub review | Rachael Divers
The Arabica coffee beans in the formula are activated with charcoal and sugar which help to detoxify and exfoliate the skin, and the scrub also contains mica minerals that promises to leave skin shimmering with a long lasting shine. The green tea, vitamin E and essential oils work to leave skin feeling deeply hydrated.
The scrub itself is ashy grey in colour and has quite a strong scent. In all honesty, I don’t really like the smell of the scrub at all, but found that it didn’t really bother me once I started to use it. I decided to put it to the test one evening in the shower where I applied it to wet skin and started to work it in with circular motions. I instantly felt how hydrating the scrub was and saw a lovely shine to my skin as I used it. I allowed the scrub to sit on my skin for the recommended two minutes to ensure maximum absorption before rinsing it away. The scrub didn’t feel too abrasive on my skin at all, but still felt like it was doing a whole lot of good to exfoliate any dry, flaky patches that might be dulling my skin. After rinsing it away, I was left with super soft skin that felt renewed and nourished.
After drying off after my shower, my skin looked healthy with a lovely glow and felt so soft too. That soft that I kept getting my Mum to feel how smooth my leg felt as we sat watching TV together that night!
I really enjoyed using the coffee shimmer scrub and I love that it’s safe to be used on both the face and body too. It’s really gentle on the skin and it’s also all natural, cruelty free and vegan!
It’s a really great scrub to try and the packaging is pretty cool too!
