My Accutane update: 7 months on

As you may know if you’ve read my blog for a little while or followed me over on YouTube, last year I was taking Accutane (or to call it its full name, Roacctuane or Isotretinoin). I stopped taking the drug back in December, just before Christmas, and the results have been outstanding.

I’d been plagued by acne for many years before taking the drug, but within months, my skin was once again looking very clear.

I finally finished my course just in time for the Christmas break which I was so pleased about seen as some of the side effects were pretty rough and I was so ready to be done with it.

I was very anxious about how the next few months would pan out and panicked massively thinking that I’d wake up one morning to find my acne had come back. I’m so pleased to say that here I am just over 7 months on and my skin is completely clear.

I have only had a grand total of two spots since finishing my course of Accutane, and they went away in double quick time!

My skin confidence has risen over the last year or so and now I frequently head off to work without any foundation or concealer at all. It’s given me a new lease of life that I’m extremely grateful for.

I still worry about the future and worry that my acne will someday return, but for now, I’m really enjoying having clear skin and the confidence that it’s bringing me.

Beautiful Bridal Makeovers at Wentbridge House for Sian

Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of applying the bridal makeup for the lovely Sian and her bridal party. Held at the gorgeous Wentbridge House in Pontefract, Sian would be having an outdoor wedding on the lovely lawns.

Myself and my assistant (my lovely Mum!) arrived early to set up and were welcomed into a lovely double room with plenty of space and natural lighting – the perfect combination for flawless bridal makeup application!

I met the gorgeous mother of the bride who was absolutely lovely, along with the bridesmaids and the cutest little flower girls.

We sailed through the makeovers and finished well ahead of time. I always love to involve the children in makeovers on the day with a tiny slick of a clear shimmery lipgloss (and pretend blusher) to make them feel a little more special and part of the morning too. It was a lovely moment of the morning and the little girls loved their pamper!

I had a lovely time with the gorgeous wedding party and was even treated to a tour of the wedding room afterwards by the mother of the bride. She showed me and mum the gorgeous wedding cake that she had made for her daughter’s special day and let me tell you, it was stunning!

Primark PS… Quick Dry Nail Polish review

I was walking through the Sheffield Primark the other day and couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw how big the beauty section was! Having been used to the much smaller branch in Barnsley that never seems to have exactly what I need, I was immediately excited to check out the selection!

Being very tight on time, I quickly honed in on the nail polish section and picked up four gorgeous colours. At 60p each, I wasn’t so sure they’d be much good, Sure, they were smaller than a normal nail polish, but I really couldn’t argue with 60p per colour!

I picked up the colours Nude, Pink Party, Mushroom and Rainbow – a good selection of solid colours and glitters. If you know me in real life, you’ll know that anything that glitters immediately catches my attention and I just have to have it! My nickname was always magpie when I was younger because I used to collect anything shiny and keep it stored away in my little box in my room!

The colour that I decided to try out was Nude. It looks a little pinker in the bottle than it actually does on the nails, but I’m not mad about it. I slicked the first coat on and was pleased to see that the coverage was pretty good. I’d definitely need a second if I wasn’t going to wear a nail topper, but I think that’s pretty standard anyway. The nail polish claims to dry in 60 seconds and for once, a product wasn’t telling me porkies! Even in my unbelievably humid office, my nails were touch dry within 60 seconds so I went on and added a second coat that really smoothed out any ‘wishy washy’ areas and left me with a lovely, subtle colour.

Normally, nail polishes chip on my nails within a day which is absolutely soul destroying. I was pleased to see that I actually 2-3 days out of this polish without the need for retouching! I was really impressed!

I have tried the Pink Party over the top of the Nude but sadly that chipped for me within a day which made me feel so sad! I’m not going to give up on it though because it’s a beautiful shade and looks exactly an offering from Shellac. I found this out when a client visited me with identical looking nail polish and asked me if it was Shellac like hers!

I’m really looking forward to trying the other colours out soon. I’m also looking forward to visiting that beauty section once again when I have a little more time. Purely for research reasons, of course…
