As a self-confessed makeup brush addict, there’s nothing I love to see more than a beautiful set of pristine, clean brushes! As a busy makeup artist and makeup tutor, something I seem to accumulate a lot of is dirty brushes!
I was thrilled when I was sent this gorgeous Sigma Spa Express Brush Cleaning Glove – what better way to clean my Sigma brushes, right?! I’d tried cleansing palettes in the past and found them to be pretty impressive – any makeup artist or even anybody that washes their brushes regularly will know that cleaning brushes on the palm of your hand takes its toll on the skin can leave it dry and irritated.
The glove comes with seven different raised, patterned sections; Rinse Eye, Wash Eye, Rinse Face, Wash Face, Refine, Refine Plus Eye and Refine Plus Face. They’re all perfectly patterned for different brush types, and fully labelled, but if you do get stuck, there’s a handy ‘how to’ card inside the package to tell you just how to get the best out of your cleansing glove.
The cleaning glove is so compact and easy to roll up thanks to it’s silicone texture, so it’s great to take away with you either on holiday or to makeup shoots. It’s also so easy to clean, rinse and dry afterwards.
I put the Sigma cleansing glove to work on my dirty brushes that were ready for a deep clean. I followed the instructions to fit the cleaning glove over my hand and slide my thumb through the strap for a secure fit.
Next, I wet my brushes and then added a little cleansing solution and water to the glove. I then went in with my brushes onto the ‘rinse’ section and allowed a little running water to flow over the glove, then I swirled the brush along the ‘refine’ texture to deep clean, then went back to the ‘rinse’ texture for a final cleanse. Lastly, I squeezed out my brush, and set it out to dry. For the dirtier brushes that were coated in foundation or cream products, I repeated the process.
First of all, I found the fit of the glove to feel a little strange at first, although it does feel pretty secure when first attached and when using the full length of the cleansing side, I felt like it might pop off my hand if ever I went to turn it around to use the other side or flexed my hand. I don’t think I’d have had the same issue if the actual glove section was a little longer and fit further down onto the hand. Secondly, I was seriously impressed with just how well the glove worked to clean my brushes! They seemed to be clean in double quick time, and I found this much more effective than the Real Techniques Brush Cleansing Palette that I’ve tried in the past.
I love the colour, the design and the whole idea of the cleaning glove and I’d not hesitate to recommend it to my clients and friends alike. The glove retails at £25 which I think is a really great price considering just how much time it cuts down on brush cleaning and just how effective it is. What’s more, it rolls up and fits into my Zuca Case pocket perfectly for on-the-go jobs!
How do you prefer to clean your brushes?
