Sleek Makeup Solstice Highlighting Palette review

The Sleek Makeup Solstice Highlighting Palette caught my eye when it was first released some time ago. The beautiful golden packaging was enough to tempt me, never mind the contents inside. “You don’t need another palette…” I told myself. “Go on, treat yourself.” Said the makeup devil on my shoulder. After battling with my thoughts, I managed to hold off for a while. Just.

Shopping in my local Boots the other week however proved to be too much temptation. I was still debating whether to purchase it or not after swatching and testing the palette on the stand. But, as soon as I saw that they didn’t appear to have any of the Solstice Palette left in stock, I immediately wanted it! Why am I like this?! Luckily I found one slotted into the wrong palette holder and quickly whisked it away to the tills. I had the biggest smile on my face because I’d definitely just found a hidden treasure.

As soon as I got the palette home I couldn’t wait to photograph it so I could start swatching and testing! I’ll start with the packaging first. The palette is made up of a gorgeous golden mirrored compact which contains a mirror for on-the-go retouching. It also contains four large pans of product and a small highlighting brush. The only issue I find with some Sleek Palettes is that they don’t actually open wide enough for you to make good use of the mirror and the products at the same time. The palette looks expensive and is incredibly beautiful to look at.

It’s one of those purchases that you won’t want to ruin by using!

Lets talk highlighters…the palette contains one cream formula, a silky shimmer powder and two baked powders. The shades are divine and range from gorgeous cool golden tones through to peachy and purple tones. All of the finishes are metallic and extremely buttery. This palette is swatching heaven and I love the addition of a cream formula and two different textured finishes.

Each of the shades look beautiful on their own or layered on top of one another to give a multidimensional, stronger highlight. I find it extremely hard to pick a favourite shade from this gorgeous palette and know I’ll always be spoiled for choice.

I think you’d love this highlighter palette whichever way you prefer to wear your highlight – bold and beautiful or soft and sophisticated.

This palette is an absolute steal at £9.99 and a gorgeous addition to any makeup bag. I’m very pleased with my palette and very happy that I listened to that little makeup devil on my shoulder in the end!
