The Walking Dead: Sunday Studio Sessions

Mum-Dad-Zombies

This Sunday, I managed to persuade my long-suffering parents to join me in the studio for their very own SFX makeover! My dad, who owns and runs Divers Photography, never ever wants to be on the other side of the camera so getting him to sit still for long enough to take some working shots and actually pose for the final look is nothing short of a miracle!

We started our Sunday studio session with a zombie makeover for my mum. I used a mixture of products from Kryolan, Mehron and Ben Nye to create the deathly flesh effect and drew on a few spooky broken capillaries to really add to the defunct mix.

The second look that I created on my old paps was a little more complex – I used my ever-trusty Third Degree to create the horrible dishevelled flesh with a good helping of fake blood and yellowing creams. I also used a new technique that I learned with Kryolan’s liquid latex to create that terribly parched dry skin look.

Starting off with my Kryolan colour wheel and a little liquid latex, I started to build on the zombie effect. Red eyeliner was used in the waterline to make the eyes look sore and irritated.

I added Ben Nye’s stage blood to the nose and mouth and built up the rotting skin effect with Third Degree before colouring in with my Ben Nye wheel and squeezing a little blood over the wound with a teat pipette.
