After starting the day off with another bout of miserable weather, my spirits were lifted massively when my monthly Glossybox subscription arrived at my door with my favourite postie. I’d been looking forward to the special Valentine’s Day Glossybox landing as I’d seen the sneaky preview of it online and thought it was beyond cute!
I was, once again, really happy with the contents of this February’s box and one of the stand out items that I tried after having the box a grand total of twenty minutes was the MUA Power Pout Glaze Low Voltage Gloss. The full size gloss – that retails at £3.50 – comes in a handy twist up tube with a built in lip brush for easy application on the go. I chose the shade Allure which is a really beautiful hot fuschia colour and is the perfect pop of colour to brighten up the complexion whether it be winter or summer.
The gloss is really thick in consistency, but I found that it applied quite evenly and smoothly. I quite prefer a thicker gloss rather than the thin, runny offerings that can often bleed away from the lip line and cause a really unsightly smudge throughout the day.
As the name says, this is a gloss so you will need to reapply this throughout the day and it will transfer onto things like cups and glasses if you’re drinking throughout the day. The gloss can be worn quite sheer or even blotted away to leave behind a light stain on the lips, but I really enjoyed wearing it as an extremely high voltage blast of colour on my face.
The only thing that bugs me about the gloss is the strange smell it carries and the odd taste it leaves if it happens to seep into your mouth throughout the day. It’s not ideal, but its to deal with…I can handle it for the sake of this gorgeous pop of colour. And at £3.50, it’s a perfect high street option that offers the same amazing pigmentation that you’d expect to receive from high end products.
