Vitamasques Hydro Face Mask Rose of Jericho review

I was introduced to the Vitamasques Hydro Face Mask Rose of Jericho gel mask in the September Red Edit Glossybox.

I was so excited to try the mask out as since being introduced to face sheet style masks, I’ve become a massive fan! Face sheets flew into our market from the Korean beauty scene, and these clever little masks impregnanted with luxurious ingredients have been proven to deliver serious hydration to the skin.

The Hydro Face Mask has been designed to provide both hydration and moisture retention in the skin thanks to the patented Artificial Moisturising Factor (AMF) that enhances our skin’s ability to retain moisture. AMF has actually ben clinically proven to keep skin hydrated for a massive 120 hours – great news for those of us with dry, dehydrated skin that needs a serious moisture boost. The mask also contains extracts from the Rose of Jericho which further enhances the moisture retention in the skin.

Vitamasques recommend cleansing the face, toning then following by applying the mask, and relaxing for 30 minutes before removing it and gently massaging the remaining product into the skin.

I followed the cleansing instructions and applied the mask to my face – the first thing that I noticed was the texture of the sheet. Other sheet style masks I’ve previously used have been made out of a textile material whereas this mask is more of a gel. It was super easy to apply compared to other masks and I wasn’t worried about the mask tearing as it felt pretty secure. I smoothed the two parts of the mask onto my skin and kicked back for half an hour to enjoy the beautifying process!

You can see how the mask looks on the skin in my photograph below along with how my skin looked afterwards – let’s be honest, there’s no flattering pose for a mask like this! They always look a little comical at best!

I didn’t notice a scent in particular while using the mask, but I did notice a slightly uncomfortable tingling sensation across my skin. I did feel a little concerned that my skin might have been reacting adversely but after a quick check of my skin underneath, I didn’t see any redness or cause for concern.

After the 30 minutes was up, I was glad to remove the mask as it didn’t feel overly comfortable on my skin. The strange sensation was present throughout use, but, I was really pleased to see that my skin looked and felt refreshed and a little more even toned after the removal. I followed the instructions and gently massaged the remaining product into my skin which soaked in really nicely without leaving a sticky residue behind.

Overall, I really enjoyed the whole process of using the mask and find it a real luxury to use this type of mask rather than the regular mud masks that I usually use. Use this mask after a busy weekend or to simply refresh and pamper your skin as a weekly treat.
