L’Oreal Infallible 24H Stay Fresh foundation review

IMG_3160I recently purchased and reviewed the L’Oreal Infallible 24H Matte foundation and after my Mum saw how gorgeous it was, she decided to try an Infallible foundation too! As my mum suffers with more of a dry skin compared to my combination to oily combo, I told her to try the Infallible Stay Fresh foundation instead. We chose the colour Vanilla (120) as mum’s skin is a little darker than mine and has more of a yellow undertone. She’s been wearing it for the past few days now and has really enjoyed using the foundation. It looked so great on her skin that I asked her if she’d let me use some to test out, and of course, she said yes! So I just had to write a L’Oreal Infallible 24H Stay Fresh foundation review too!

L’Oreal describes their foundation as a high coverage, longwear foundation that hides the appearance of fatigue and blemishes. The foundation contains Hydrating Hyaluron Complex that hydrates the skin and keeps foundation feeling fresh from day to night.

The Stay Fresh foundation comes in a slim, glass bottle with a pump dispenser that I really like. It’s fuss free and easy to use with minimal mess. The first thing I noticed about the foundation was the lovely, fresh smell. It’s not overbearing at all, just really soft and refreshing making applying the foundation feel like a lovely experience.

9am – The application
I applied the foundation with my Real Techniques Flawless Miracle Complexion sponge which I’d dampened beforehand. The foundation blended beautifully onto my skin – I used two pumps which was more than enough to cover my entire face and blend down my neck (not something I’d regularly do, but did so seen as the colour was a little dark for me). My usual colour would be Porcelain so please do keep in mind that the colour is a little dark for me but the main thing I wanted to test with this foundation is it’s staying power. Of course, if I get on with this version of Infallible, I’ll go buy it in my exact colour too but seen as I’m testing my mum’s colour, this isn’t a problem. I applied my Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in Fair as usual and powdered under my eyes and lightly over my t-zone. You can see the foundation immediately after application in the image collage below. I honestly think it has a beautiful finish that isn’t dissimilar to MAC’s Studio Fix Fluid (SFF) at all. The foundation has a thinner texture than SFF but in terms of finish, it’s a dead ringer.

1pm – 4 hours into wear
So far, my day has consisted of visiting a clients house, tidying up my makeup room and responding to emails. My foundation still looks lovely on my skin – the finish looks the same as it did four hours ago and it still feels quite comfortable on my skin. I do feel like I’m beginning to get a little oily, but my skin doesn’t actually look oily at all.

4pm – 7 hours into wear
After walking my two dogs and being out in the garden for a little while, my foundation still looks fab on my skin but I’m starting to feel oilier. When I look at my skin up close, the foundation still looks smooth and radiant, but I’m more aware of oxidisation than I was earlier. I know I keep mentioning this, but the foundation is a shade darker for me than I need anyway, so I’m allowing leeway on the colour front – I think if it was Porcelain, it would still look a great match. I bop my Flawless Miracle Complexion sponge over my face and instantly feel like my foundation has been refreshed – I don’t even need to re-powder! The foundation is still going strong.

6pm – 9 hours into wear
The foundation has been on my skin for nine hours now and I have to say, even though I am looking a little oilier than I’d like, I’m still really impressed. Most drugstore foundations would have worn off my skin by now and left me looking horribly oily and patchy. I’m fully aware that this foundation would be more suited to a dry to combination skin type rather than a combination to oily skin type, but I couldn’t resist trying it out because I had such a good feeling about it.

My verdict
This is a gorgeous foundation for mature, dry or combination/dry skin types and for £9.99, I think it’s great value for money. I would definitely purchase it in my colour and wear it on those days where I want my skin to feel fresh, radiant and glowing.

Mum’s verdict
“The coverage is great and the foundation stayed on my skin all day long. It felt really comfortable and hydrating on my skin and looked so fresh throughout the day. I also think it’s similar to MAC’s Studio Fix in finish but feels lighter on the face.”
