My top five favourite makeup brushes from Zoeva, Sigma and Real Techniques
One of the most frequent questions I’m asked by my clients is all about my brushes – specifically which ones I’d recommend and which brands I prefer the best. So, I thought I’d give you a list of my top five favourite makeup brushes, how much they cost and where to get them. Enjoy!
1. Zoeva 109 Luxe Face Paint Brush, £13, Beauty Bay
I was gifted this brush as part of a Zoeva Rose Golden set and I absolutely love it! The above version is the silver edition. I love this brush because it is absolutely perfect for both baking with your makeup and sculpting cheekbones too. The design makes it easy to cut those cheekbones and get that gorgeously defined look. This brush is also vegan friendly and has the softest Taklon bristles that wash and wear beautifully.
2. Sigma E35 Tapered Blending Brush in Copper, part of the Sigma Make Up Artist Rose Gold Set, £397, Lookfantastic
We all know that stunning eye makeup looks depend greatly on the blend, so an amazing blending brush really helps to buff out the colour and give a seamless finish. I’ve tried countless blending brushes in the past but this one is my absolute favourite. The thin but fluffy brush fibres help to give that perfect blend and also to pick up the colour and deposit it accurately. A must have brush for anybody who loves makeup.
3. Real Techniques Setting Brush, £6.99, Lookfantastic
Cruelty free, handmade, amazing and affordable. Those are not usually four words that go together when it comes to makeup brushes! I’ve had this brush for absolute years and I love using it to set my under eye area, nose and forehead. The brush is fab for both creams and powders are the bristles are all synthetic which means that cream products won’t penetrate into the them and ruin them. These brushes wash and wear perfectly and mine is as good as new even after 4+ years. Along with being a marvel for setting powders, it also makes an amazing highlighting brush due to the precision you can get from it.
4. Sigma E65 Small Angle Brush, part of the Sigma Make Up Artist Rose Gold Set, £397, Lookfantastic
This brush is perfect if you use any sort of gel brow or eye liner. I use it daily with my Illamasqua Precision Brow Gel and find it to be the perfect shape. I’ve tried angled brushes from other companies before but find that this one is much thinner and more delicate for that precise look. It’s also fab for precise concealing under the brow and lip lining too.
Silver version, £22, Lookfantastic
I couldn’t put together a list of my top fives without having a contour brush! This brush is perfectly sculpted to help you get that gorgeously defined look. The bristles are mega soft and again, they wash and wear beautifully. I use this brush for bronzer, blusher and highlighter too and find it to be perfect for all three.
I hope that you enjoyed reading my top five makeup brush list! If I were to recommend any complete set to anybody, it would absolutely be the Sigma Make Up Artist Rose Gold Set. But if this is a little out of your budget at the moment, the Sigma Essential Brush Set is amazing and also contains the E65 Small Angle Brush and the F40 Large Angled Contour Brush and also has a great alternative to the E35 Tapered Blending Brush – the E40 Tapered Blending Brush (which I also own and use daily!)
