Teaching Makeup Application for Confidence and Self-Esteem at Outwood Academy

Just this week I had the absolute pleasure of teaching makeup artistry to the young ladies over at Outwood Academy Shafton. As part of a confidence building and self-esteem workshop, I was kindly invited to teach a natural makeup application and chat about hints and tips with the girls in order for them to confidently apply their makeup. For me, makeup is about giving confidence and allowing ourselves to be whoever we want to be. It’s about having fun with our look and also enhancing our best features if we desire to do so. The most important thing for me to teach is that makeup application is not a necessary process, but something that can and should be something fun to experiment with.

High school years are a difficult time, and from personal experience, it’s not always easy to find the products we need for our skin type and tone, or to even know enough about our skin type in order to select the best skincare.

I was absolutely thrilled to meet the gorgeous girls, and loved demonstrating a natural, day to day makeover for them on their lovely teacher, Miss Hall who made a fabulous model! We covered everything from skincare and skin preparation to eyeshadow application and of course, highlighting and contouring too!

On top of such a wonderful opportunity, I was so thrilled that MAC Cosmetics ever so kindly supported me for the lesson and sent me some gorgeous makeup products over for the girls to try out. It’s safe to say they definitely enjoyed them! After the session, the girls were provided with a personalised PDF of all of the products that we discussed, along with a refresher of any hints and tips I shared with them during their workshop.

I’m so excited to be able to make this a regular workshop, and can’t wait to meet even more gorgeous young ladies and teach them the art of makeup. One of my absolute favourite things to do is to teach makeup, and to see somebody smile because they’ve managed to do something they didn’t think was possible is a wonderful feeling.
