Morphe palettes have always been the stuff of dreams. Amazingly priced, wonderfully pigmented and absolutely full of colour options. Along with stunning collections of their own, Morphe have also brought out several collaborations with popular beauty influencers like Jaclyn Hill and James Charles.
Back when I used to teach Media Makeup at college, my students would fawn over the Morphe palettes for their amazing quality. The fantastic price point meant that they could add an amazing selection of shades and textures to their beginner makeup kits for much less. What I love about Morphe products is that they’re perfect for new artists and seasoned professionals alike. I think the brand has made it really easy for your everyday guy and girl to get hold of a product that performs professionally and gives amazing results without the exclusive price tag.
I was always super impressed with the quality of the palettes and how beautifully the shades blended out, but I had never owned a Morphe eyeshadow palette myself. Although, I had tried their amazing highlighter that came in a lookfantastic Beauty Box which was in the shade Spark. Which reminds me, I really need to order a new one as that highlighter was stunning!
Anyway, last year (wow, it still feels weird typing ‘last’ year!) I treated myself to the lookfantastic Beauty Advent Calendar and was thrilled to find that drawer number 1 was home to a Morphe palette! I absolutely could not wait to sit down at my makeup mirror and start playing with the gorgeous shades.
Morphe 9A Always Golden Palette
The palette consists of nine highly pigmented eyeshadows in a mixture of matte and shimmer finishes. The colours are all based around a golden colour story and range from lightly dusted warm golden hues to a rich deep black.
The palette itself is a sleek, black design which looks ultra-stylish and feels really sturdy. It’s also small enough to fit into a standard makeup bag and is perfect for travelling with.
The nine shades consist of the following:
Surprise: shimmering gold dust
Myself : matte honey wheat
Splendid: matte ginger beer
Brews: matte brown ale
Witness: matte snickerdoodle
Taken: shimmering roasted espresso
Connection: rich bronze shimmer
Aware: matte spiced cider
Storm: matte midnight black
Every single shade in this palette feels buttery soft and has an amazing colour payoff. There’s slight kickback in the pan when you swirl your brush into the colour, but that’s exactly what I’d expect from a beautifully pigmented shadow. When applied to the eyes, there’s minimal fall-down and the colour blends out so beautifully. Each shade is so easy to layer and blend together – they’re an absolute dream to work with.
The addition of the black eyeshadow means that you can also create a black eyeliner look with ease. Simply use an angled brush and pack the shade along your lash line, or spritz with water to make a liquid.
Also, the warmer shades in the palette make a great soft brow definer for redheads like me!
Is it worth a try?
I 100% recommend this palette! Whether you’re a makeup novice or a seasoned professional, I think you’ll love this easy-to-use eyeshadow palette. This palette is perfect if you want the option to have a natural makeup look that you can transition to an evening look with ease.
