Mascaras are always a welcome sight inside my monthly beauty boxes. So when this little beauty from PUR surfaced from within my lookfantastic Beauty Box, I was very excited!
I love a good mascara, and I love testing out mascaras. I didn’t used to be so fussy with my mascaras when I was younger. In fact, my love of mascara took a bit of a tragic route. I’m sure if you’re around my age (which I’m sure you could hazard a guess at once I tell you the product) that you’ll remember that wonderful little dual-ended offering from Bourjois. I’m sure you know the exact one that I mean already. It had one white end which contained little tiny fibres that built up the lashes, and one black end which contained the mascara to coat the lashes afterwards. It was called Coup de Theatre and I must say, I felt extremely Parisian and chic when people asked me which mascara I wore and I responded…’It’s Bourjois’ with a French flourish. The reason my mascara took a slightly tragic route was because I used to pile it on like there was no tomorrow. I was the proud owner of spiky, spider leg lashes that you could see coming before you could even see me. I once got told that my eyelashes looked ‘so chewable’. Whatever that means I just don’t know, but surely that can’t be a good thing!
Anyway, the point I’m getting to is that my taste in mascara (and how to wear it) has thankfully shifted and I now favour a full and fluttery look without the thick clumping or spider leg resemblance.
PUR’s Fully Charged Magnetic Mascara is described as an ‘age-defying Fully Charged Mascara powered by Magnetic Technology that attracts to each individual lash to strengthen, thicken, lengthen and separate.’ The brand say that the revolutionary ‘magnetic’ polymer matrix wraps a positively charged elastic veil around each lash to instantly lift, separate and define each lash. The mascara is fortified with a specialised blend of ingredients that help to condition, strengthen and help to prevent lash loss which in turn makes lashes look more youthful.
First of all, I love the concept of this mascara and the fact that it conditions the lashes along with helping to strengthen lashes is certainly a bonus. Secondly, I love the wand. The bristles are extremely soft yet spiky and expertly grab onto even the tiniest and most hidden lashes to coat them in a gorgeous deep black hue. It’s also commendable that the mascara is also cruelty free!
I am seriously impressed with this mascara. Just one coat adds volume, lift and beautiful definition without clumping. It’s basically my answer to fluttery lashes in a tube. The other thing I love about this mascara is that it isn’t labelled as a waterproof mascara, but it certainly stands up to tears and watery eyes extremely well. I took my gorgeous little Alfie for a walk on a particularly windy, pollen-fuelled walk whilst wearing this and was dreading looking in the mirror to see panda eyes with the amount my poor eyes were streaming, but when I got home and checked, the mascara was firmly in place right where I left it.
I think that this is a beautiful mascara whether you want to build the drama or simply create beautiful, feathery light fluttery lashes. I highly recommend it and will continue to enjoy using it.
