Rachael Divers Makeup Artistry is in the Barnsley Chronicle!

It’s always amazing to see a great write up of your work whatever your field, so today I was extra pleased to see the fabulous spread that the famed Barnsley Chronicle had written about my makeup artistry work. Take a look at the piece out today in the Town issue of Barnsley Chronicle – many thanks to Nick Ward for the feature.

Rachael Divers Makeup Artistry is in the Barnsley Chronicle!

“She’s a frighteningly talented young lady, That’s make-up artist Rachael Divers who is set to scare the pants of Barnsley this Halloween.

Her work usually sees people given fabulous makeovers for weddings, proms and glamorous photo shoots. But for one month, Rachael puts her brushes to a different use to give people frightening faces as they enjoy the Halloween celebrations. From the walking dead to wicked witches, the Batman’s Joker to The Man With Fire On His Face from the horror film Insidious, she’s done ’em all scarily well.

The makeovers are made all the more remarkable given Rachael taught herself all the looks and techniques.

The striking looks have courted plenty of attention: Rachael has made over a set of zombies for various publicity stunts across Manchester, Leeds and London. She also works with companies such as Wilko and Poundstretcher on Halloween projects.

Rachael, of Park View, Shafton, became interested in makeup while helping her parents – both professional photographers prepare models for photo shoots. She then trained in Leeds and worked as a makeup artist in Debenhams.

Then she began to experiment using the art of special effects makeup design. And the end result is simply stunning, causing demand for her skills to rocket as the spookiest night of the year gets nearer.

“I’ve always loved Halloween,” Rachael says, “and after the American influence on All Hallows’ Eve, I’ve found that demand for more thrilling, intricate Halloween makeup is rising year on year. Face paint sets and a pair of plastic Dracula teeth just don’t cut it anymore, and after shows like The Walking Dead, people really want to get into the spirit of Halloween and look really quite frightening with all out makeup! After teaching myself new techniques with the aid of YouTube videos and pure trial and error, I found that I was able to offer my regular clients a little something different for the spooky holidays! My usual work sees me applying beautiful, pretty makeup for weddings or proms, but Halloween is a great excuse to go all out and be creative!”

Rachael is currently taking Halloween appointments. Go to her website RachaelDivers.com for details.”

As I work alone, I really do have a very limited availability and can only take a certain number of clients on over the Halloween period.
